Do Division Volunteers Needed

We need volunteers for Do Division Family Fun Fest. The Family Fun Fest is a great time for children of all ages with activities including: face painting, pony rides, train rides, bounce houses, wall climbing and a joust pit.

LaSalle II parent volunteers partner with Pritzker parent volunteers to plan and coordinate the family friendly activities. However, we could not carry out all of these fun activities without our generous volunteers! Please consider donating a two-hour (or more) block of your time to help out.

We’re using VolunteerSpot to organize our volunteer slots.

Here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:

1) Click this link to see our Sign-Up on VolunteerSpot:
2) Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like (note – those who sign up first get first pick of volunteer spots).
3) Sign up! It’s Easy – you will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on VolunteerSpot.

Note: VolunteerSpot does not share your email address with anyone. If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact Nicole Hasan and she will sign you up manually.

Thanks all – your time and efforts truly make a difference for all of our children!

We have some pictures from last year’s event here:

Restaurant Night at Jerry’s

Join us at our next restaurant night at Jerry’s Sandwiches on Thursday 3/12 from 5-10pm.

Jerry’s has a great room for music, and LaSalle II’s own Dave Hunt and The Dave Hunt Band will be playing from 5:30-8:30 pm. Dave’s band plays street festivals during the Summer. They played West Fest last year. So get in a summer state of mind and come out to Jerry’s.

The restaurant will donate 20% of the proceeds during that event. It be a lot of fun…hope to see you there!

Spring Thaw Auction Benefit

LaSalle II PTO’s annual “SPRING THAW” Auction Benefit is our most important fundraiser of the year. We expect to have 300 parents, teachers and friends in attendance. Last year’s event raised over $45,000. These dollars are crucial to various LaSalle II programs.

Our fundraising efforts support our language programming, various infrastructure and technology needs, supplemental school supplies, (JCC) after school AND enrichment courses, music and inter/intramural sports instruction and student financial aid… to name a few.

It’s a wonderful evening of food, cocktails, entertainment, camaraderie and fun. But most importantly, it’s an event that helps all of our kids and further strengthens our LaSalle II community.

This year’s event will be held at the National Museum of Mexican Art, 1852 W 19th St, Chicago, IL 60608 on Saturday, March 28th 6-10 pm

Register by filling out the cards that went home in backpacks, like the one below or register online through EventBrite. PLEASE NOTE: Even if paying online, please be sure to turn a physical registration card into the office.

2014-2015 Capital Campaign

Dear LaSalle II Families, Teachers & Staff:

Many of you are familiar with our annual CAPITAL CAMPAIGN and for those of you who are new to the school, welcome and we hope you can participate!

You’ll be receiving a 6×9 CAPITAL CAMPAIGN card in your child’s backpack – and you’ll see banners up around the school this week. For the past 3 years, the campaign’s focus has been on raising money for our new playground. To date, LaSalle II families have raised close to $100,000! These crucial dollars helped build our dream playground, mural and learning gardens that the kids are now enjoying.

The 2014-15 campaign will focus its energies on much-needed upgrades to the school cafeteria. The goal is to create a safer, more pleasing environment for our children while maximizing the space’s potential by creating a multipurpose room. The most dire of needs for the cafeteria, is the installation of A/C, and increased ventilation of the equipment. For those of you who have not visited the cafeteria during lunch-time… it gets hot in there!

LaSalle II’s Capital Campaign is designed so everyone can participate – at a level comfortable for your family. We take your pledge and break it out over 8 payments from November – June. Please take a moment to review the card coming home today and consider pledging to the campaign. Please submit your pledge card to the office by November 15th as we’ll begin the first debit at the end of November.

Let’s Turn the Tables
Improve the comfort and look of our cafeteria that your children use everyday!
Key elements can include:
  • Installation of A/C and increased ventilation
  • Convert to multi-purpose room by adding partition
  • Re-design layout for increased storage, better flow
  • Improve lighting
  • Cover exposed pipes in hallway ceiling
  • Update equipment
  • New flooring
  • Create visually pleasing design for concrete wall outside cafeteria
Your Mission, Should You Accept It
  1. Understand Goal: To raise $50,000 this school year toward Cafeteria Upgrades
  2. Accept the challenge by choosing a pledge level
  3. Pledge (in one sum or debited monthly over 8 mos.) Look for postcards to come home in backpacks soon.

What happened at school today? Pretty sure everyone has a good answer for that on Friday. Several teachers plus Ms Albani took the ALS ice bucket challenge and raised money for the ALS Association. The whole school got to cheer them on. The kids had so much fun!
