Get ready for the 7th annual LaSalle II Healthy Family Fest on Friday, October 13th from 3 pm to 5 pm.
The Healthy Family Fest is a FREE event brought to you by the PTO’s Education and Wellness Committee for the entire LaSalle II School community. It focuses on healthy eating, exercise, environmental stewardship, mind/body connections and other aspects of wellness, in a fun-filled, hands-on festival environment. There will be lots of movement for all ages and plenty of food items to keep the family satisfied until dinner.
Arrive early, at 2:30 pm, to watch K through 3rd grade students perform a kick-start your heart cardio routine. Then join in the festivities after you pick your child up from their teacher at 2:45 pm. Noble Street Prep High School students and faculty will be running a Sports Zone including volleyball and step performers. Windy City Fieldhouse returns to run the LaSalle II Ninja Warrior on the playground equipment. Positive Fitness will be running a yoga demo and learn about mixed martial arts with TDCMMA.
Hungry? Head to the Kids Table culinary demo to watch kids whip up their own healthy snack. Or enjoy some fruit kabobs from the Hilton. And if that is not enough, the Crepes in the Park cart and Flash Taco truck return with small food items for purchase at the event.
To round out the event families will have an opportunity to spruce up our Wolcott garden with pollinator plants to attract birds and butterflies. Carrie Davis, our resident parent gardener, needs parent and children volunteers to get their hands dirty and help with the install. If you can, bring your own gloves and a trowel or shovel.
In addition, learn how you can lend a helping hand to others in the Chicagoland community. Humble Design, a non-profit for homeless families, will be on hand to discuss volunteer opportunities.
Last but not least learn how to become an active participant in your health. In Touch and Motion will have therapists on hand to provide stress management tips. Physicians Immediate Care will be providing free blood pressure screenings. And Walgreens returns with a pharmacist to administer flu shots – so get a jump on the flu season and get vaccinated!
