This November in Mr. Edwards’ kindergarten class the students learned about needs and wants. We read and discussed books about needs and wants and sorted items by needs and wants. For our culminating activity the students cut out pictures from advertisements and magazines and sorted them on big posters labeled needs and wants.
The students did a great job and we had fun debating where a few items, like car and cake, should go. The unit coincided with the school’s food drive and ended on Thanksgiving, which made the lesson more authentic for the students. Below are some pictures from our culminating activity. There are more pictures and videos of this event on my blog at mredwardskindergarten.blogspot.com.
