From Julie McMahon:
Get ready for the 6th annual LaSalle II Healthy Family Fest on Friday, October 14 from 3 pm to 5 pm. The Healthy Family Fest is a FREE event brought to you by the PTO’s Education and Wellness Committee for the entire LaSalle II School community. It focuses on healthy eating, exercise, environmental stewardship, mind/body connections and other aspects of wellness, in a fun-filled, hands-on festival environment. There will be lots of movement for all ages and plenty of food items to keep the family satisfied until dinner.
The K through 4th graders will be kicking off the event at 3 pm with a surprise presentation under the guise of Mrs. Weingarten. Roberto Clemente High School students and faculty will be running a Sports Zone including football, basketball and archery. Windy City Fieldhouse returns to run the LaSalle II Ninja Warrior on the playground equipment.
Hungry? Head to the Roberto Clemente culinary table to watch kids whip up their own snack. Or enjoy some healthy all natural teas from David’s Tea, free bottles of water from Coca Cola or fruit kabobs from the Hilton. And if that is not enough, we the crepe cart returns to purchase small food items at the event.
To round out the event there will be vendors on hand to educate you about energy efficiency. CUB will run a utility bill clinic so bring in your latest utility bill to discover the best provider/pricing for your electricity. In addition, Peoples Gas/Com Ed will be on hand to schedule an energy efficiency audit in your home.
Last but not least learn how to become an active participant in your health. Physicians Immediate Care Center will be providing free blood pressure screenings. Walgreens is bringing a pharmacist to administer flu shots – so get a jump on the flu season and get vaccinated!
